Weight Loss Injections

The Island Surgery do not prescribe weight loss injections, such as Mounjaro, Ozempic etc.  This patient service can only be obtained via a referral to the local weight management service. There is strict criteria on who can be prescribed weight loss medications on the NHS. Before making an appointment for this service, please check the below to make sure you are eligible for a referral to the weight management service. 

The criteria is as follows:

• A BMI of 40 or higher and Four or more of the qualifying comorbidities:
• Hypertension(high blood pressure)
• Dyslipidaemia(high cholesterol)
• Obstructive sleep apnoea
• Cardiovascular disease(heart disease)
• Type 2 diabetes

If you do meet the above criteria then please contact the referral team on 01268 439299 (option 4) who will be happy to refer you for an assessment by the weight management service to identify your suitability for weight loss injections.

Non Attendances

Unfortunately we had a total of 55 patients missed appointments in April 2026 which has resulted in 13.5 hours of wasted appointment time. Missed appointments cause the waiting times for an appointment to be much longer than necessary. 

Patients will be removed from the practice list if they continue to miss appointments.
